Ark Transportation: A Brief History

This air freight company, Ark Transportation, has been around since the 1950’s when it was called Andrew’s Air Freight. It’s a family owned business. George started in the business when he was 8 years old. That’s when he first learned about moving freight. Ark joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Air Forwarders Association in 1990.

Global Impact

Ark has helped people in Flint, MI, Bolivia and Africa in the past. Ark became friends with the founder of Hospital Bethel in Bolivia in 2008 and started sending supplies and goods to the hospital. Ark worked with a local church in 2010 to bring emergency supplies to Bongolo Hospital in Gabon, Africa. Ark became a Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) when it got its F.M.C. license in 2014.

Expansion and Community Support

Ark started a truckload trading business in 2014 to meet the needs of its growing customers. During the 2014 water crisis in Flint, Michigan Ark sent 40,000 bottles of water to the area. Ark still offers shipping services in the US and around the world, providing customers with shipping information and options to meet their needs. Ark is a licensed DOT carrier and an asset based IATA air freight forwarder so it can offer expedited shipping options to meet schedules.
