About LAN Airlines:

As of 2018, LATAM Cargo Chile was known as LAN Cargo S.A. It is a cargo airline based in Santiago, Chile, and is part of the LATAM Airlines Group. Its main airports are Miami International Airport and Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport. From these airports, it runs cargo trips in South America, Europe, and North America. The airline started on May 22, 1970, when LAN-Chile split its cargo and passenger business.

In 2016, LATAM Cargo Chile changed its name to LATAM Cargo Chile when its parent company, LAN Airlines, merged with TAM Linhas Aéreas to form LATAM Airlines Group. During the world COVID-19 pandemic, the airline added many more routes without planning to.

Since its start, LATAM Airlines Chile has been part of the LATAM Airlines Group, the biggest airline parent company in Latin America. The Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago is its main hub. Other hubs are in São Paulo, Lima, Bogotá, Quito, Guayaquil, and Asunción. When Chile’s government privatized the airline in the 1990s, LAN was the national carrier. It is now the main airline in Chile, Ecuador, and Peru. The biggest airline in Latin America is LATAM. It flies to and from North America, the Caribbean, Oceania, Asia, and Europe.

In 2002, LAN Chile began connecting with other networks around the world through LAN Perú and LAN Ecuador. In March 2004, all of LAN-Chile’s companies joined together under the LAN brand and livery, eliminating the names of each airline country from the brands. LAN combined the first and business service classes into one in August 2006, calling it Premium Business.

AIRES is Colombia’s second-largest airline. On October 28, 2010, LAN bought 98% of its shares. AIRES began running as LAN Colombia on December 3, 2011, using the uniform LAN livery. LAN has been known as LATAM Airlines since May 5, 2016.

The airline added a lot of new lines in 2017. One of them was Santiago to Melbourne, which was the longest flight in its history. The company stated in November 2017 that it would be opening a direct flight to Asia from Santiago, Chile, with a stop in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and then going straight to Tel Aviv, Israel. Over four million members earn miles every time they fly with LATAM Chile or any other business connected with LATAM Pass around the world. LATAM Pass is the airline’s frequent flyer program to reward loyal customers.
