About Oak Harbor Freight:
Ben Koetje started Oak Harbor Transfer in 1916 as a local freight carrier. In 1942, Oak Harbor Transfer joined with Oak Harbor Freight Lines. The brothers turned the airline into a small LTL business that serves several Western Washington counties. Henry bought the company outright in 1974, and now his two boys, Edward and David, work for him.
As of today, Oak Harbor is still growing after deregulation in 1980. Oak Harbor has become a top premium service carrier in the West by consistently offering high-quality services at reasonable prices. It has 38 terminals, more than 1700 employees, and yearly sales of more than $300 million. Erik Vander Pol and Dan Vander Pol, the next generation of Vander Pols, are now running the business, which goes straight to more Northwest points than any other carrier.
Oak Harbor Freight Lines has direct service in Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, as well as six other western states. They give excellent service by fully knowing and meeting all of their customers’ needs. They keep raising the bar for quality by “Bringing Peace of Mind” through creative solutions and better service choices like delivering to homes, delivering at specific times, and delivering on Saturdays.
Through strategic relationships with a network of carriers, OAKH LTL’s services are available all over the United States and Canada, not just in its direct service area. Full truckload, partial loads, curtain side, flatbed trailers, refrigerated loads, intermodal, and expedited services are just some of the special truckload services that OHFL Freight offers. They also provide short haul and long haul in 48′ and 53′ vans.
Oak Harbor Freight Lines also has a Driver Training Program for people who have worked there for at least six months. Once they finish and pass the class, the Driver Candidate will be checked and watched for one shift by a driver certifier (not their driver trainer) at their home terminal in a P&D setting. Suppose the Driver Candidate passes this final review. In that case, Oak Harbor will help them get their CDL at a nearby CDL office or by paying for third-party certification.
