80% of the port’s cargo moves through Wando Welch Terminal, the largest container terminal at SC Ports. This terminal can handle 20,000-TEU ships with 33 crane moves per hour and 37-minute truck turns. There’s a large refrigerated container yard for chilled and frozen food. ORION and GO!Port, two software systems by SC Ports Authority, offer full cargo management. There are many local dray and over-the-road truckers that bring motor freight to the port. For container and auto moves you need gate codes and all your drivers should be trained on the Advanced Gate System.

Gate Codes are required for all container and chassis moves at Wando Welch Terminal and North Charleston Terminal. ALL MOTOR CARRIER DRIVERS should be educated on procedures regarding the inbound/outbound portals required for the Advanced Gate System (AGS).
